ACTION Updates
Legislative and Advocacy Update
Since the reintroduction of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) of 2021, S. 1136 and H.R. 2573 on April 15, the ACTION Campaign and our partners have begun working to rebuild cosponsorship for the legislation in both the Senate and the House.
Now is a great time for Housing Credit advocates to reach out to their members of Congress and ask that they cosponsor the AHCIA of 2021.The legislation’s Congressional leads are planning to add on Democratic and Republican members of Congress in pairs, as a strategy to maintain bipartisan cosponsorship. ACTION and our partners are currently working to target Republican members of Congress, to match with Democratic members who have asked to sign-on.
The ACTION Campaign has a number of advocacy materials to help support your outreach, including updated National, State, and Congressional District Fact Sheets, sample emails for outreach, as well as detailed information about the legislation in our Advocacy Toolkit. We also have a complete list of cosponsors from last Congress, where you can check if your Senator or Representative has cosponsored in the past.
Please contact Krista D’Alessandro at kdalessandro@enterprisecommunity.org to share any outreach or for help preparing for meetings.
Help ACTION Circulate Mayor Sign-On Letter to Congress in Support of the AHCIA of 2021
The ACTION Campaign – in partnership with Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan – is circulating a mayoral sign-on letter to Congress in support of the AHCIA of 2021. Last year, nearly 70 mayors signed-on to a similar letter, demonstrating to Congress the strong support for the Housing Credit and the AHCIA in local communities across the country.
Help ACTION build mayoral signatories by asking your mayor to sign-on to the letter by the extended deadline, May 10. Mayors can contact Ayrianne Parks at aparks@enterprisecommunity.org to add their name to the letter or with any questions. Check out the list of mayors already signed-on:
