Time sensitive: On January 31, the House passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 (H.R. 7024) — which includes key provisions to expand the Housing Credit. The bill passed with a strong bipartisan vote of 357 to 70. Now the bill is in the Senate for consideration and we need all hands on deck!

This tax bill is our best chance in years to increase the supply of affordable housing, potentially the last chance to restore the 12.5 percent cut to the program and lower the bond financing threshold to unlock the resources desperately needed to build and preserve affordable rental housing across the country. We need housing advocates to weigh in ASAP by urging their Senators to vote for its enactment. The production and preservation of over 200,000 affordable homes is at stake.

Please contact your Senators today and ask them to reach out to congressional leadership in support of the Housing Credit! Also, if your Representative voted for H.R. 7024, please thank them for supporting the Housing Credit–and if they aren’t already a cosponsor be sure to ask them to consider cosponsoring the AHCIA!
