Help ACTION Build Support for Newly Reintroduced Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (S. 1136 and H.R. 2573)

Yesterday, Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Todd Young (R-IN), Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Rob Portman (R-OH) and Representatives Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Don Beyer (D-VA), and Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), introduced the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) of 2021 (S. 1136 and H.R. 2573) bipartisan legislation to strengthen and expand the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit).

The ACTION Campaign has updated its Advocacy Toolkit with materials to support advocates as we work to rebuild cosponsorship of the legislation. We have also created a Social Media Advocacy Guide with sample actions and text for organizations to use that will help us build support for the new AHCIA legislation.

Another great way to build support for the AHCIA is to encourage your partners to join the over 2,400 businesses and organizations who are already members of the ACTION Campaign. Membership is free!

ACTION is getting ready to send Congress a letter in support of the AHCIA, and all existing ACTION members will be included in the letter. Make sure your partners (developers, local affordable housing organizations, contractors, property management firms—anyone who participates in affordable housing utilizing the Housing Credit!) are listed on the letter by urging them to join the ACTION Campaign today!

If you have any questions or wish to remove your organization from the letter, contact Krista D’Alessandro at kdalessandro@enterprisecommunity.org by the April 22 deadline.

Krista D'Alessandro is the senior tax policy analyst at Enterprise Community Partners. The ACTION Campaign is co-chaired by Enterprise and the National Council of State Housing Agencies.
