The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) is critical to the creation and preservation of affordable housing nationwide. As the need for homes continues to grow, the program must be expanded and enhanced. The Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) of 2021, a set of identical bicameral and bipartisan bills introduced today, would do just that. In fact, the three major provisions of the legislation are estimated to finance two million additional affordable rental homes over 10 years – homes that could change everything for families, veterans, seniors, homeless youth and many others.
