Action is needed TODAY in support of critical affordable housing resources! Please contact your Senators and ask them to VOTE YES on the tax package, which is expected to be considered on Thursday, August 1.
As ACTION shared in a news bulletin, the legislation contains two Housing Credit priorities that would help create more than 200,000 affordable homes across the country. The House has already passed the bill in an overwhelming bipartisan vote. To help with your outreach, ACTION has developed a quick advocacy feature, including an email template, ACTION’s statewide fact sheets, and a table from ACTION member Novogradac & Co. detailing the impact the tax package’s housing provisions would have on the states the Senators represent. Additional information, including a fact sheet on the specifics of the housing provisions included in the bill, is available here.
You can also use the template below for direct outreach to your Senators’ offices. If you need assistance, please reach out to actioncampaign@enterprisecommunity.org.
Dear Senator [NAME],
As a constituent of [STATE], I am writing to ask you to vote yes on the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 (H.R. 7024) on the Senate floor this Thursday, August 1. Every state, including ours, is experiencing a shortage of affordable, decent homes in rural, suburban, and urban areas. The two Low-Income Housing Tax Credit provisions would help address this by creating over 200,000 affordable homes nationwide.
As you may know, there is presently a shortage of over 7.3 million affordable homes nationwide, which is forcing many families into poverty and exacerbating record levels of homelessness. In addition to creating more affordable homes, the bill’s Housing Credit provisions would also support over 304,000 jobs; generate over $34 billion in wages and business income; and generate almost $12 billion in federal, state, and local tax revenue.
This bipartisan bill overwhelmingly passed the House and will help address the housing supply shortages in our state and across the country. Please support this critical step in making more affordable homes available to your constituents.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
