ACTION Alert: Deadline Approaching to Support Housing Credit Bill!

Three Critical Ways to Build Support for the Housing Credit

  1. Is your Representative a cosponsor of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) yet? As you know, the AHCIA of 2025 (H.R. 2725) was recently reintroduced with over one-quarter of the House as original cosponsors and now has nearly 30 percent of the House supporting it. View ACTION’s advocacy materials to see how you can get your Representative to be a cosponsor if they are not yet one. Details on how to help build cosponsorship below.
  2. Ask your local elected leaders – like mayors, county board chairs, county executives, and similar elected positions – to sign the letter ACTION is organizing to demonstrate local government support for the AHCIA to Congress. In 2023, 184 local government leaders signed a similar letter to Congress. The deadline for local elected leaders to sign this year’s letter is Tuesday, April 29, at 5pm Eastern.
  3. Have you signed and shared the letter for organizations and businesses to sign in support of the Housing Credit and the AHCIA that ACTION is circulating? We are working to show the broad support from nonprofits, businesses, and public agencies nationwide. Please help us by sharing the letter with your partners to show broad support for the Housing Credit and grow our membershipPLEASE NOTE: All current ACTION Campaign members will automatically be listed as signing the letter, so if you are already an ACTION member, you do not need to add your organization.

Help Us Build Cosponsorship

In the last Congress, the AHCIA was the most-cosponsored tax bill in the House, and nearly 60 percent of Congress as a whole supported it. We are looking to improve upon those cosponsorship numbers for this Congress, but we need your help, especially because Housing Credit provisions have a chance to be included in this year’s tax reconciliation legislation! Explore ACTION’s advocacy resources to help you build cosponsorship for the AHCIA. An identical Senate version of the AHCIA is expected next week and our Senate leads have set a deadline of this Friday, April 25, at COB to secure original cosponsors. In addition to the lead sponsors, Sens. Young and Blackburn, there is already a group of Republican original cosponsors, including Sens. Boozman (AR), Cramer (ND), Collins (ME), and Murkowski (AK). There are currently Democratic queues in both chambers. Be sure to contact your Senators today – especially Republicans – to get them on the bill!
